With Peter on the cello and guitar and Emmy on the fiddle and violin, this duo is full of surprises and always brings to their audience a program filled with variety and fun. They enjoy challenging each other to learn new styles of music and difficult repertoire and you can see in their performances the comfort and delight they feel in collaborating. In addition to being a wonderful performing musician, Peter is also a skilled and inventive arranger and introduces new repertoire for the duo that adds novelty and originality to their performances.

Piero and Emmy

Verdant Vibes Duo

EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks and Piero Guimaraes explore the world of percussion and violin duos, bringing new interpretations to the classics, commissioning new works, arranging some of their favorite pieces for this unique instrumentation and even bringing a new angle to the traditional fiddle realm. As a versatile percussionist, Piero especially enjoys playing the marimba and vibraphone, and his dedication shows in his virtuosic touch on these instruments. EmmaLee and Piero not only play concerts, but also present workshops and masterclasses for non-profits, middle schools, high schools and universities.

The Golden Bantam String Band brings old-time fiddle music to dances and events all over New England. Their friendly contagious energy and lively tunes offer a welcoming vibe wherever their music takes them. With EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks on the fiddle, Tom Perrotti on the guitar and mandolin and Mike Fischman on the banjo, bohran and anything else he can get his hands on, they are always full of musical surprises. With decades of tunes swimming around in their heads, they play all sorts of styles including old-time, New England, Irish, French Canadian and more.

Mike and Emma

Contra dance duo extraordinaire, these two have been making music together for over six years now. When Mike and Emma get together to play tunes, they push the boundaries of the fiddle realm and take tunes on an improvisatory journey. Contra dancers throughout the region enjoy their rhythmic drive and versatility and this twosome has also been spotted in concert settings and other special events.

Rusty Pickup String Band

The Rusty Pickup String Band has brought good old-time toe-tapping tunes to dance halls for decades. Starting out as a true pickup band, this group quickly evolved into the house band for Central Illinois contra dances and for other events in the Upper Midwest. With EmmaLee on fiddle, Peggy on piano, Jim on guitar, Lil’ Jim on mandolin and Rich on the standup bass, this group of family and friends loves to make music together.

South Coast Chamber Music

South Coast Chamber Music

The South Coast Chamber Music Series was formed to present high-quality classical chamber music for the communities of southeastern Massachusetts. Their performances regularly feature the string principals from the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra and pianist Janice Weber, artistic director of the series. Their concerts offer audiences an intimate setting to appreciate the music making of the orchestra musicians they have supported for many years. Each program presents an engaging array of styles in lively acoustic environments throughout the Southcoast.
